Automatic switching to deeper zoom offline maps when zooming in.

I have a world map of 8 zoom and some country maps with 12 zoom and city maps with 16 zoom. It would be great if the app does switch automatically to a other offline map when that map has deeper zoom of the area that I'm viewing.

You can search a location by its coordinates in the following format: two numerical values represent latitude and longitude separated by a comma (e.g. "48.198634, 16.371648" for Vienna).

Response from the site administrator

Hi, thanks for your question!

It's actually possible: in "Mobile Atlas Creator" program you can add more than one selection.
For example:
*select your first map area on map, check desired zoom levels for it and click "Add Selection",
* after that select another area on map, check desired zoom levels for it and click "Add Selection" again.
=> As result offline map will be created containing both selections.

Use '+' and '-' buttons to go through zoom levels. SHOW the current zoom level.

The free Android app OruxMaps beats this hands down. Galileo needs "+" and "-" buttons for going through the different zoom levels, and we really need to SEE the current zoom level. Pinch-zoom feels worse here than "steps". If there's no...

Response from the site administrator
molind, 24.03.2011
While you're just browsing map - Galileo uses tracking of significant location changes by analyzing cellular data and nearest wifi's. GPS chip did't used and it didn't drain your battery contrary it even saves charge. Also Galileo didn't subscribed for background location event's so when you're exit from application - it didn't receive any GPS data. Don't worry about that.

Screen orientation lock

Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 26.04.2012
Thank you for your suggestion, and there is a tip for you:

if you don't like iPhone’s auto-rotation feature while using Galileo Offline Map, please use the screen orientation lock option (requires 4.0+):
* tap the HOME button twice to bring the multitasking dock,
* swipe your finger to the right until you see the music control buttons,
* tap on the lock button (first in a raw).

After you enable the screen lock, the auto rotation is disabled and your screen is locked to the portrait orientation. A rotation lock icon (looks like a circular arrow around a padlock) will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon.

To re-enable the auto rotation, you can simply go through the steps again to turn off the lock.

Edit or add my own map sources, exactly the way MOBAC allow us to do.

In MOBAC it is possible to add or edit sources by editing a xml file. It would be nice to have simlar feature on-board of Galileo.

We are happy to inform you that you can add custom online map sources via XML files (the same as in MOBAC) since v2.4.

There are several ways to add custom online map source to the app. You can:
* Place the XML file in the app shared folder in iTunes.
* Open the XML file attached in Email on your iOS device using the "Open in Galileo" option.
* Open the XML file from Dropbox on your iOS device using the "Open in.." option.

Response from the site administrator

Hi, thanks for your idea and there is one suggestion for it: in "Mobile Atlas Creator" program you can add more than one selection while creating the offline map.
For example: select your first city area on map and click "Add Selection",
after that select your second city (or any other area) and press "Add Selection" again.
As result offline map will be created containing both selections. So you don't have to switch between offline maps.

Go to the iPhone system Settings app, tap on General, then tap on Restrictions. Make sure the "In-App Purchases" option is set to ON. Once you've set that correctly you should be able to see in-app purchases.

In case, you want to restore your purchases you could use restore purchases button in Features view. It looks like Refresh button and located in top right corner.

Hi, thank you for using the Galileo Offline Maps!
Yes, there have been a few changes in the user interface since the version 2.1.
First tap on the left down "Locate Me" button - initiates the tracking mode, next tap on this button switches to the 'compass' mode.
To turn off the tracking or compass mode - simply touch and move the map.

There is 2 possible reasons.
1. Apple serves is under maintenance. In-app purchases should appear shortly.

our map format is identical to RMaps sqlite, and BigPlatet sqlite map formats. so any of these maps will work in Galileo.

Good day, Is there a German aid Datei. I the complete feature set was loaded. What does the red dot in the left corner? translated by Google

Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 01.03.2012
Hi, it's the “GPS Track Recording” feature (works in case you have activated this advanced feature, i.e. in-app purchase) that allows to visualize and record your movements on map. Even in background mode if supported by firmware and while screen is locked.

Just tap on red-circle icon once to start recording and tap again to stop recording.

The following detailed statistics are available for a recorded track:
* duration - total trip elapsed time
* distance - total distance
* avg. speed - average speed while recording the track
*max. speed - maximum speed on tracks
You can save your recorded GPS tracks to KML, GPX, CSV common formats and share them with someone via email.

OpenStreetMap is a free editable map of the whole world. It is made by people like you.
It allows you to view, edit and use geographical data in a collaborative way from anywhere on Earth.
So you can report any discovered error yourself at http://openstreetbugs.schokokeks.org

Just leave a short message on the map if something is missing or obviously wrong, like "oneway in wrong direction" or "bridge or level_crossing?".

What is your view on the percieved over-use of

What is your view of the percieved over-loading of the map servers as noted in the OSM wiki? see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mobile_Atlas_Creator
Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 21.04.2012
Surely, we understand that active downloading of map tiles overloads OSM servers. That's why we don't allow our users to download a huge map areas directly from the app and provide with the several alternative online map sources such as: CloudMade maps, MapQuest, OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap and OpenStreetBrowser.
Moreover, we recommend our users to exchange the prepared offline maps between each other in order to reduce the loading.
In future we plan to come out with the vector rendering within the app.

Show/hide the name of the bookmarks on maps. Better: show/hide selected categories.
Response from the site administrator
Yulia, 20.09.2012
Thank you for your idea about the hiding the selected bookmark categories in map! We'll keep your suggestion in mind.

How it works now:
To hide a particular bookmark from the map, just tap once on the item name in My Collections list. It turns the font colour from black to gray; i.e. black – for visible, gray – for hidden bookmarks. Tap it again to show the bookmark on map.
